Will WhatsApp work with an eSIM?
Yes, you can use WhatsApp on your personal device without any trouble, as it doesn't need a phone number. The phone number is required only for one-time verification. After that, WhatsApp takes only an Internet connection to work, so even if you remove the SIM card from your phone or change the SIM card in your phone, you will still be able to use WhatsApp created using your old number.
Will iMessage work with an eSIM?
Yes , there is no need to worry. You can completely use iMessage on your iOS device without any trouble.
Since iMessage operates via the Internet, you can message friends and family in other countries who have iPhones without the need for an international data plan. You don't have to have a phone number to use iMessage. Instead, you can use an email address that is associated to your Apple ID to send messages over WiFi or Mobile Data.

What is an eSIM?
An eSIM, or an embedded SIM card, is an industry-standard digital SIM alternative to a physical SIM card. If your device supports eSIMs, you can have multiple SIM profiles, buy short-term data plans for travel, save money on roaming costs, and have a connection whenever you need it most.
How does an eSIM work?
An eSIM, a digital SIM card, works just like its physical counterpart. It identifies your device virtually and connects you to a mobile network. 5G and 4G coverage is also usually available, but coverage may depend on the network providers, the country you are based in, and your device compatibility.
Furthermore, unlike physical SIM cards, eSIMs are programmable remotely via software, which allows the device to support multiple eSIM profiles.
After choosing the right country, the amount of data that you have chosen with your eSIM plan for that country will be the amount you will be getting for the entirety of the requested period, which does not reset daily.
Why aren’t eSIMs popular?
eSIMs are still new and certainly growing in popularity, especially because some of the latest smartphones don’t even have a physical SIM tray anymore. But eSIMs aren’t as popular as they could be because of the slight learning curve needed for the adoption of this technology.
